Hello
My name is Jeff Gray and I’m a limnologist. Limnology is the study of fresh water lakes, rivers, streams, and other freshwater environments such as bogs and wetlands. My interest in limnology was inspired by watching Jacques Cousteau the famous underwater explorer on tv when I was very young. I started Grays’ Aquatic Services in 1982 following the completion of my Master of Science degree at Akron University studying under Dr. John Olive. I then continued my education with Ph.D. level coursework in limnology under world renown limnologists Dr. G.D. Cooke and Dr. Robert Carlson of Kent State University.
Over the past 45 years, I have worked for and with the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources, the Muskingham Watershed Conservancy District, many private and public lakes including Lake Erie marinas and the Ohio E.P.A. where I worked with Dr. John Estenik in creating Ohio’s first guideline for aquatic applicators applying pesticides to public waters such as Lake Erie and other public lakes.
My work with Lake Mohawk dates back to 1988 as presented in this History link. I have worked with the Lake Mohawk Property Owners Association continuously for the past 17 years since 2009 .
