Cyanobacteria Monitoring at Lake Mohawk
Scott Noble monitors potential health issues associated with cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) by collecting lake water samples from various areas of the lake. Not all blue-green algae species produce toxins that can be harmful to humans, pets, and other wildlife. The latest report from EnviroScience indicates that there are no issues with cyanobacteria toxins. Regardless, lake water is not a potable water supply and caution should always be taken when potentially ingesting untreated water from lakes, streams, etc.. Pets should also be restrained from drinking lake water whenever possible.
